Custom Fedora Image

For my laptop and server, I run a custom fedora image made using bluebuild. It is based off uBlue’s base image that their other projects such as Bazzite derive from.

My Laptop OS runs a simple window manager setup using Niri and Noctalia Shell. The image comes preinstalled with many applications I use daily like Zen and Zed. New applications are installed via flatpaks as the whole os is immutable, meaning it is read-only during normal use, so you can’t directly change system files at runtime. When the system updates, it’s done through automated image releases on the github page. This allows the system to be rolled back to earlier states if something breaks, making it a very stable system.

System configurations are automatically synced with my dotfiles repo and cli and dev tools are installed via Mise.

My Server also runs a custom image but with less changes than my laptop, only adding mise and other commandline tools.
